The Premier League season 09/10

Hello everybody. I'm back! Well.... I've got nothing much to talk about right now so I'm thinking of the forthcoming premier league season as a good enough topic for my second ever blog post.

Hmmm..... Cristiano Ronaldo has finally bid adieu to the premier league and has set sail for Spanish shores, and I feel sympathetic for Real Madrid. Bad decision to buy Cristiano, and an even worse decision to shell out 94 million pound sterling for that worthless piece of crap. Carlos Tevez has decided to stay in Manchester.... Well, he's parted ways with Man united but has joined the Arabs at Man city in their hopeless quest for glory. Looks like the Russians are looking to London as a great place to ply their trade, as Yuri Zhirkov says hello to Chelsea, following Roman Pavlyuchenko's transfer to Tottenham Hotspur last summer and Andrei Arshavin's highly acclaimed transfer to Arsenal. Liverpool have, shockingly, spent 17 million pound sterling to land Portsmouth's Glen Johnson, an eyebrow-raising sum for someone who doesn't look all that talented. And Arsenal have landed once-upon-a-time Dutch superpower Ajax's captain Thomas Vermaelen for approximately 10 million pound sterling, a real bargain for a 23 year old who looks set to storm the Premier League and terrify its strikers. Manchester United have already spent a small part of the money earned from Cristiano's transfer on acquiring the services of Michael Owen and Antonio Valencia. Arsenal are yet to find a good defensive midfielder to bolster their squad and Liverpool look set to dispose of Xabi Alonso.

The three teams that have been promoted to the premier league this season are Birmingham City, Burnley and Wolverhampton Wanderers. Out of these, Birmingham city look the most likely not to be relegated at the end of the season, but then anything can happen in the premier league, as was proved last season by Stoke city and Hull.

Things look bleak for Middlesbrough and Newcastle United, who will be playing in the second tier of English football after a very long time. Alan Shearer's job as manager of Newcastle United looks like it's hanging in the balance.

The Arabs have acquired the services of Roque Santa Cruz and Carlos Tevez already, and are apparently trying to sign Emmanuel Adebayor, David Beckham and John Terry.

Alright then. Time to go now. Will be back soon with more news and rumours from the transfer saga.

Au revoir and Bon nuit for now :)

My First post!!!

Well, hello there, mes amis!!! This is my first blog post ever and I would like to start off by introducing myself. I'm Varun Abbineni, a big time Arsenal FC fan, a big time Iron Maiden fan, well..... a big time fan of loads of other things and people too, so let me not make life difficult for you by listing them all and wasting your time. Hmmm..... what do I tell you about myself? I'm a stubborn, boastful, arrogant, friendly, unpredictable, loud-mouthed, over-confident, lethargic, hypocritic, unselfish, nerdy, funny, know-it-all, clumsy, caring and determined person.

I'm not bad at academics (I've been accepted by City university London to do my undergraduation, for the record:) ) and am downright pathetic when it comes to playing sports, although I'm pretty good at playing Pro Evolution Soccer on a playstation ;).

I'm also pretty stupid and take a very long time to understand and laugh at jokes.

I was very actively involved in various activities in my high school days, including in the school's online newspaper, the Marathon, the Interact club, the UNESCO club, and a lot more.

I love travelling, and have been to Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Egypt and Kuwait (Well... Less than a day in Kuwait!!!).

Not many places, I know, and I hope to add to that list soon.....

Anyway, time to go now. Will see you all pretty soon.

Bye Bye!!!!
